Yes it’s a startling song describing the gushing joy of falling in love, but there’s a sense of sadness in Joni’s lyrics as one realizes that her affections are unrequited. The arrangement is outstanding, and Tom Scott’s L.A. Express add a cool jazz sheen to one of her finest songs.
