176 – The Jacksons – Can You Feel It (1980)
Written by Michael Jackson and Jackie Jackson
Produced by The Jacksons
Label – Epic

One thing that many contemporary critics forget is that although the band’s output was eventually overshadowed by Michael Jackson’s solo material during the 1980s, there are still some wonderful highlights. In addition, they were considerably underrated producers, as proven by this powerful hit. Along with the magnetizing dance floor rhythm, are beautifully integrated choir and horn embellishments. The Robert Abel and Bruce Gowers promotional video that accompanied the song is of course of its time, but one could feel that on the horizon was a new age that heralded pop music as a visual medium.
