9/10 fans of The Verve will most probably tell you that “Bittersweet Symphony” is their definitive statement. I’ve always thought that it’s an average record with a catchy borrowed Rolling Stones orchestral motif. By contrast, “Lucky Man” is lush, downbeat and ecstatic all at once.

  1. Bittersweet symphony is definitely fine but by no means, the only great track on Urban Hymns. This one is a personal fave. I know what he means by being a lucky man. I feel often feel lucky too.
