Whatever Happened To…? The Outhere Brothers “Boom Boom Boom”

The Outhere Brothers were a Chicago based Hip Hop duo who enjoyed two U.K. number 1 hit singles in 1994/95 with “Don’t Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)” and “Boom Boom Boom”.

Lamar “Hula” Mahone first came to prominence in 1991 as a co-writer and producer for DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince. Hula was also one part of a duo that included K Fingers (Craig Simpkins). The pair co produced the albums “Homebase” and “Code Red” (1993).

Here’s “Summertime” from “Homebase”

Signed to Elektra/Warner Bros, Hula and Keith “Malik” Mayberry the duo released the album “1 Polish, 2 Biscuits and A Fish Sandwich” on November 30th 1994.

From the album, “Don’t Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)” was released as their first chart topping single.

Followed by another chart topper, “Boom Boom Boom”.

Hula Mahone is very much involved in the music industry to this day. He DJ’s at Club Lavue at 707, S Halsted, Chicago Heights.

The whereabouts of Mayberry is undetermined.

  1. Oooft. I remember them. I wasn’t aware of the Jazzy / Fresh Prince connection… though it makes sense- either of those tracks could have been theirs.

  2. Haha. I had to listen to “Boom boom boom” to make sure it wasn’t that “boom boom boom let’s go back to my room song but no, that was an 80s song. Never heard of these guys.
