Much like Gil Scott Heron, Michael Franti’s industrial hip hop was a fiery stab at sinking cultural values and permanently skewed morality, all influenced from the top down. Everyone knows the potentially devastating power of that small box in the corner of the room, but few could deliver its threat as well as Franti did, and the song still has huge relevance to this day.
