222 – Lou Reed – Walk On The Wild Side (1972)
Written by Lou Reed
Produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson
Label: RCA

Reed’s world was one that average Joe’s like me could never even imagine, never mind live within. That David Bowie and Mick Ronson managed to craft this extraordinary story (part fiction, part real life) into an incredible pop song is an achievement in itself. Herbie Flowers dual bass line is the glue that holds the changing themes, and Bowie’s former saxophone instructor comes in to nail the solo in one take.
