Written by The Passions
Produced by Peter Wilson
Label – Polydor

This short lived, “one hit wonder” post punk outfit from London lit our lives up with the wonderous “I’m In Love With A German Film Star”. The crisp rhythms, Barbara Gogan’s wearied yet sweet vocal, and Clive Timperley’s unmistakable Echoplex treated guitar makes for one of the most original singles of the decade. In addition, as song intro’s go, there’s few to top this.

  1. Oh, Hackskeptic, what atmospherics, what chiming guitars, what majesty, a great 45, from a quite stunning LP. 10/10 without question.

    • I’ve never heard the LP, but everybody would have reserved this the classic status it deserves if it had been released by The Cure (musically it’s very similar to their early stuff).

  2. It’s a truly wonderful LP Hackskeptic. Tonal, atmospheric, melodic. Takes you to familiar places that you’ve never been to. Great 45. Don’t quite equate the Cure reference point, but most definitely post punk premium pop, guitar playing of the highest order.
