234 – Fleet Foxes – Mykonos (2008)
Written by Robin Pecknold
Produced by Phil Ek
Label – Bella Union

Eventually pulled as a stand alone single from the extraordinary “Sun Giant” EP,”Mykonos” is the best example of Fleet Foxes’ ability to add something new to the obvious influences of vintage folk, 60s baroque pop, and 70s soft rock. Robin Pecknold and his band breathe something highly original in genres fans thought long departed. The highlight is of course the intricate backing vocals, taking the song to far beyond traditional sonic horizons.
