271 – The Stooges – Down On The Street (1970)
Written by The Stooges
Produced by Don Gallucci
Label – Elektra

For this reviewer “Down On The Street” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog” are the bedrock and direct route to the punk revolution just seven years later. The Stooges were raw but incredibly tight musicians, and Iggy’s vocal has that anarchic bravado that screams for attention. It’s all a drooling derangement of all that came before it, a pulsating powerhouse of emotion, discordant attitudes, and blood pumping aggression.
