279 – Fleetwood Mac – The Green Manalishi (With The Two Pronged Crown) (1970)
Written by Peter Green
Label – Reprise

As Peter Green’s world slid into the enveloping psychosis from the adverse side effects of LSD, it didn’t affect his ability to write monumental songs. “The Green Manalishi…” is as dark and brooding as his nightmares, with the representation of the Devil, disillusion with fame, and unwanted financial riches that grip this menacing song. The interwoven guitar riff between Green and Danny Kirwan is a clear influence to much of the hard rock and metal that came later in the decade.
