289 – The Horrors – Still Life (2011)
Written by The Horrors
Produced by Craig Silvey and The Horrors
Label – XL

“Still Life”, the first release from the band’s third album “Skying”, showed a new diversion to the warm synth washes and a new lightness of touch, not least in singer Faris Badwan’s vocals. Undoubtedly there’s a similar grandeur to the majestic arena synth rock that Simple Minds presented to us on “New Gold Dream…” three decades before. A superb single from a continually evolving band; a rarity in modern music.
