303 – LCD Soundsystem – All My Friends (2007)
Written by James Murphy, Pat Mahoney and Tyler Pope
Produced by The DFA
Label – DFA

Few people can pull off the combination of melancholic lyrics with bright, shiny dance punk. James Murphy can, and this is undoubtedly the greatest example of a middle aged man reflecting on his life, friendships, lovers without ever resorting to unnecessary pathos. A true modern day classic in every sense.

  1. Great tune! Though I still prefer “Losing my edge” over the rest of his catalogue, partly because I can relate…

  2. It was a toss up between your favourite and this to go into the top 500, and by a whisker I chose this. I remember being blown away by “Losing My Edge” 10 years ago (can you believe that!).
