315 – Thomas Dolby – Airwaves (1982)
Written by Thomas Dolby
Produced by Thomas Dolby and Tim Friese Greene
Label – Venice In Peril/EMI
A lesser known original from the enchanting debut album “The Golden Age Of Wireless”; this climactic synth ballad captures Dolby’s ability to impose human emotions and responses into machines that manufactured sounds. Obviously influenced by Bowie’s extended Berlin sojourn, the monumental chorus and the icy introspective verse combine perfectly for the singer’s greatest song.
