Sports Stars Who Think They’re Musicians: Part 2

It’s not just actors and actresses that have delusional tendencies. Sports stars have disgraced themselves, their families and fans with musical atrocities. Here’s the second part of a continuing series.

Terry Venables – If I Can Dream
“El Tel” originally turned up in 1974 murdering “What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For?”. Undeterred, he returned to haunt a new generation with his version of “If I Can Dream”.

Kevin Keegan – Head Over Heels In Love
Is a tragic pop career a pre-requisite for England management? Venables, Hoddle and of course Kevin Keegan surprisingly don’t put their singing abilities on their C.V’s. I’ve heard that somewhere in the vaults there’s a version of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” recorded by Sshteeve McLaren. Hope that doesn’t see the light of day.

Andy Cole – Outstanding
Mean and moody Andy Cole launched his R&B/rap career with this in 1999. Apparently, Bayern Munich players were offered tickets to see him perform live should they win the Champions League final in that same year. We all know what happened next…
