Indie rock acts that undertake dance music successfully are few and far between. Carnival rhythms, cow bells and galloping break beats lay the foundation for “Paris”, but it’s the euphoric acid house chorus that really grabs the attention. The sound is a joyous harvesting of many influences, coated in glorious melody, and the band fully deserved their Mercury Prize nomination on the back of this and their excellent debut album.
