Actors Are Frustrated Musicians: Part 1

Johnny Depp
Depp’s childhood ambitions were to be a rock star, and heavily influenced by The Clash joined local band The Kids. He then collaborated with punk band Rock City Angels, and has a co writing credit on a song from their debut LP. In recent years he formed P along with Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea, Sex Pistol Steve Jones, and Butthole Surfers singer Gibby Haynes. They released one self titled album in 1995. Amongst many other guest spots with various artists, most famously Depp played slide guitar on Oasis songs “Fade In-Out” and “Fade Away”.

David Hasselhoff
The Hoff is huge in Europe with seven top 30 albums in the German charts, and ten in Austria (including three number one’s). Famously performed his number one smash hit “Looking For Freedom” at the Berlin Wall on New Year’s Eve 1989, just before re-unification activists started to tear it down. His 1996 video for “Hooked On A Feeling” is still one of The Hackskeptic’s favourite comedy moments of all time.

Hugh Laurie
Laurie began playing piano at the age of 6. He has frequently appeared in numerous TV shows playing various instruments but it wasn’t until 2010 that he seriously considered recording his own records. He has released two blues albums both of which received moderate acclaim and equally moderate sales.
