Manics bass player Nicky Wire would say that this single was a career saver. Their two previous albums, “Lifeblood” and “Know Your Enemy” by his own admission had been lacklustre efforts. “Your Love Alone…” propelled the band back to number 2 in both UK singles and album chart. A return to the harder back to basics rock of their 90s heyday and the addition of Nina Persson on vocals, a sweeping orchestral arrangement allied with a superb hook. It’s a startling return for anyone who thought the Manic Street Preachers were dead and buried at the turn of the millennium.
