Few debut singles catch the raw spirit of a band in a 2+ minute snapshot like “Blitzkrieg Bop”. 3 simple chords, basic production and a standard 4/4 rhythm have never sounded so energised, so thrilling. The primal “Hey, ho, let’s go” chant stirs every American ball park spectator almost 40 years later, and that’s why we can never devalue the power of a great rock song. In the World Series of songs, this one is a walk off, out of the park winner.
