Hackskeptic’s 500 Greatest Songs: ABC – Poison Arrow

ABC1

387 – ABC – Poison Arrow (1982)
Written by ABC
Produced by Trevor Horn
Label – Mercury

For anyone who appreciates the skill of the producer and arranger, then ABC’s “Poison Arrow” is undoubtedly a masterpiece. Trevor Horn and Anne Dudley clinically moulded the raw new wave/dance from the Sheffield 5 piece into opulent classic dance pop. The top class bass line, along with a stomping rhythm and Horn’s gargantuan synthetic orchestration would give singer Martin Fry a perfect opportunity to spread his romantic kitsch to the world.
