392 – Foo Fighters – Everlong (1997)
Written by Dave Grohl
Produced by Gil Norton
Label – Roswell/Columbia

Written at an extreme low point in Dave Grohl’s life, this bittersweet love song from “The Colour And The Shape” has become Foo Fighters signature and probably most popular song. The winter of 1996 found the singer sleeping on friends floors, with no access to money and the scars of a recent divorce. Written in 45 minutes, the spare lyrical plea for his love to “Waste away with me” logically provides a clue to Grohl’s offer that he has nothing material to give but his “Everlong” love. The backing is powerful and intense with one of Grohl’s best drumming performances.
