395 – Stevie Wonder – Higher Ground (1973)
Written by Stevie Wonder
Produced by Stevie Wonder
Label – Tamla

Recorded in full in an incredible 3 hour stint with Stevie credited as playing every instrument, “Higher Ground’s” call for judgement against the abusers given power to control civilisations is full of passionate indignation. The intense fervour of the lyric is perfectly matched by the verve and vitality of his groove based instrumental accompaniment, and when it kicks in, that Moog bass line still electrifies to this day.
