Hackskeptic’s 500 Greatest Songs: Kraftwerk – Tour De France (1983)

426 – Kraftwerk – Tour De France (1983)
Written by Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider, Karl Bartos, and Maxime Schmitt
Produced by Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider

It’s tough to pick definitive Kraftwerk songs because there’s quite simply a treasure trove to select from. The oft untold importance of the group’s music to the development of electronica, dance music and hip hop is immeasurable. Their romantic notion of Europe as a single state can only be admired. If that ever happens, I hope Kraftwerk land the job of writing the National Anthem. Until that day, “Tour De France” is one of the beautiful examples of their sonic poetry for Europe.
