Hackskeptic’s 500 Greatest Songs: The House Of Love – Shine On (1987)

443 – The House Of Love – Shine On (1987)
Written by Guy Chadwick
Label – Creation/Fontana

“Shine On” emphasises the fact that you really can’t keep a great song down. Originally released in 1987 on Creation as a limited edition, the single failed to make a significant impression on the charts. A record label change (Fontana) and continued interest from an ever increasing audience led to a 1990 re-release and justified success. The House Of Love released other great singles including “Christine”, “I Don’t Know Why I Love You” and “The Beatles & The Stones” but this remains their most memorable moment.
